About Me

Rachel qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in Veterinary Physiotherapy (ACPAT) from the University of the West of England (taught at Hartpury College) in 2013, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy. To gain entry onto the PG Dip Rachel first completed a 3 year BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Southampton qualifying in 2011. Rachel is registered with and regulated by ACPAT, RAMP, CSP and the HCPC, as well as being fully insured.

Rachel predominates offers a mobile service for appointments and undertakes yard visits as well as treating small animals in their own homes, but also runs a small animal clinic at a local Vets, as well as working in a small animal specialist referral centre working with both inpatients and outpatients.

Rachel spent time working as a human physiotherapist within a hospital setting during her time training on the postgraduate diploma, but has also worked extensively in the equine and canine industry since she was 14, as well as during both degree programmes. This has included riding schools, livery yards, stud and competition yards and a small animal veterinary practice, both in the UK and abroad. This enabled Rachel to develop an extensive understanding of the demands and problems that can be faced by many animals from the everyday pet to the elite athlete.

Additionally Rachel has owned her own horses before, and also owns a GSD.

As a “Chartered Physiotherapist” Rachel has developed extensive clinical reasoning skills and these will be used, based on the findings from the assessment, to develop a specific rehabilitation and treatment programme based on your animal’s individual needs.

As part of CPD requirements Rachel has completed the KT1 and KT2 course in advanced Equine Kinesio taping and this is available to all patients as an additional treatment. As a result Rachel is registered with Kinesio UK as a practitioner certified to completed Kinesio taping techniques on horses at an advanced level. Additionally Rachel has completed a specialist Sports Massage therapy diploma, aimed at Physiotherapists, to enable her to offer further treatments for riders.

Horses and dogs are the main animals treated, however other animals can be treated on enquiry.
