ABOUT CHARTERED PHYSIOTHERAPY AND VETERINARY PHYSIOTHERAPY

The title Chartered Physiotherapist is protected by law, and indicates a high level of academic achievement. A Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in Veterinary Physiotherapy (ACPAT) has a both a degree in human physiotherapy and a Post Graduate Diploma or MSc in veterinary physiotherapy.

However the title of “Physiotherapist” is not protected and therefore when looking for a Physiotherapist for an animal you should ensure they are a Chartered Physiotherapist, with the initials MCSP after their name.

A Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in Veterinary Physiotherapy (ACPAT) is required to demonstrate a high level of continuing professional development as part of their ACPAT, CSP, RAMP & HCPC membership. This means evidence based practice is used at all times when assessing and treating animals, ensuring only the most up-to-date techniques are utilised by the Chartered Physiotherapist.
